Honeycomb cake is a traditional dessert in Southeast Asia. The most interesting thing about the cake is that if you cut it horizontally, you'll see the internal honeycomb composition. Why? It's the baking soda. It seems more like doing an experiment than baking, right? 

It's not only easy but fun, and yummy of course. Try the recipe at home with your kids, they'll surely like it!

 Honeycomb Cake  

Ingredients:

-     90g of sugar and 40g of water (1)

-     130g of hot water (2)

-     50g of melted butter (unsalted

-     2 eggs

-     20g of honey

-     120g of condensed milk

-     90g of cake flour

-     1/2 teaspoon of baking soda

Directions:

1. Caramelize sugar and water (1) over low heat in a saucepan. Stir at all times until it’s golden brown.

2.  Add hot water to the caramel. Let cool.

3.  Melt the butter over hot water. Add in eggs and mix well.

4.  Add honey and condensed milk and mix well.

5.  Sift flour and baking soda into the mixture.

6.  Add cooled liquid caramel into batter. Mix well.

7.  Spoon the mixture into the molds and leave aside for 30 minutes to enable baking soda to react.

8.  Bake the cake at 185°C for 20-25 minutes.

9.  Let cool and enjoy!
