上一篇提到，我搭配圖畫故事書All Fall Down的延伸活動是童謠"Ring Around the Rosie"，歌詞如下：

Ring around the rosie,

A pocketful of posies.

Ashes, ashes,

We all fall down.

也有另一個版本：

Ring-a ring o'Rosies

A pocket full of posies.

A-tishoo! A-tishoo!

We all fall down!

這首童謠是玩Circling Game時常唱的歌，大手牽小手繞圈圈，幾乎沒有孩子不歡繞圈圈的，唱到歌曲最後一起倒下，非常有樂趣。

不過有人指出這首聽來歡樂無比的童謠，真正的歷史來源可以追溯到十四世紀時歐洲爆發的鼠疫（黑死病），第一句"Ring around the rosie"其實是鼠疫發病的徵兆－皮膚上一圈一圈的玫瑰色疹；第二句"A pocketful of posies"則是當時的人隨身帶著的保平安的草藥香包；"Ashes, ashes"是火化後的骨灰，另一個版本的"A-tishoo! A-tishoo!"則是鼠疫的另一個發病徵兆；最後一句"We all fall down!"表達了當時鼠疫高達六成以上的死亡率。（參考網站：Nursery Rhymes- Lyrics, Origins & History!）

但也有另一說，指出Ring Around the Rosie真正付梓是在19世紀（Kate Greenaway 1881年的Mother Goose，如下圖左），遠晚於鼠疫橫行的的時間，另一個則是語文面的質疑，歌詞裡的"of"和"posies"用法不符合中世紀的英文文法。（參考網站：Snopes.com）

Well, anyway, 我不是專家學者，所以是抱持著"喔，原來如此~"或"嗯，聽起來也有道理啊~"的輕鬆態度來看待這些訊息。對老師或家長的我來說，更重要的是歌曲輕鬆的曲調和感染力，總能讓孩子們毫無例外的開懷大笑，這就夠了～

這個曲子常聽到兩種曲調，如下：

所以也可以依此類推，套用不同的動作進去，保證整首歌唱完可以耗盡孩子們無窮的體力，當然還有老師的...。所以最後"We all fall down!"簡直就是發自內心的吶喊啊，哈哈～
